Dr. Allie Igwe is an environmental microbiologist who aims to understand how microscopic organisms that live near, on, and in plant roots locally adapt to their environment and affect plant traits like growth, development, stress tolerance, and secondary metabolite production.

Her goal is to collaboratively restore degraded environments, curate green spaces for humans and native pollinators, and explore the historic and cultural relationship between humans, plants, and their associated microbes.
